Delegates vote to set the priorities for the PANSW
The primary purpose of Conference is to enable your elected Delegates to vote on the priorities for the PANSW to achieve over the next 2 years.
An outstanding testament to the work of your Delegates, I have heard the comment many times this week of the high level of collaboration, information sharing and respectful debate that has occurred with Delegates from the many and varied areas of the PANSW and policing profession at Conference 2026, and how valuable and constructive that has been.
Delegates have received important information from keynote speakers, participated in focus groups, worked together to build knowledge and understanding, and then finally voted on important motions to democratically set the agenda for the next 2 years.
The efforts of your elected Delegates really do make members the driving force of the policing profession in NSW.
Conference 2026 saw over 130 motions submitted, moved, spoken to, debated and voted on.
As a brief summary, those motions set objectives for the PANSW to pursue that include:
- The protection of positions in PACs and PDs by preventing any attempt by the NSWPF to move vacant positions, and instead address workload challenges by funding additional positions – ensuring Commands are not staffed at the expense of other Commands.
- A voluntary superannuation contribution scheme for police officers, with matched employer contributions.
- Payment for any shift worked at a higher rank.
- Additional incremental progression pathways designed to retain long serving officers.
- Increases to allowances to remunerate officers for work patterns that interrupt your personal life.
- A General Duties allowance to assist officers remain in General Duties career pathways and reward those officers for the work they perform to keep the community safe.
- Specialist allowances designed to remunerate officers that have acquired additional skills and qualifications, and prevent poaching from other law enforcement agencies or private sector companies that value those special skills.
- To create housing access and subsidies specific for police, to meet police housing needs in both regional and metropolitan areas.
