Western Region IR rallies

A big thanks to all the branches involved.

DUBBO: Wednesday 13th July
Despite the cold and light rain, over 70 members and their families turned out to support the rally and send a strong message to local MP Troy Grant and his party that we will fight the government’s attack on our wages, entitlements and conditions and to preserve the IRC.
The total crowd was about 250 and we were by far the dominant union for numbers at the rally. Members travelled from as far as Enngonia and Bourke to attend the Dubbo Rally, an outstanding effort!

ORANGE: Thursday 14th July
Over 100 members and family marched through the main street and then attended the rally in the park. The total crowd was approximately 500 and looked great. A strong message was sent to local MP Andrew Gee, who left town at the last minute before the rally started. Members travelled in from the sectors as far out as Cowra. Again, we were the dominant union, it was a great effort.

BATHURST: Friday 15th July
Over 50 members and family turned out to tell MP Paul Toole, who was at the rally, that they and their fellow public sector comrades aren’t about to lie down and let the government attack their conditions at work and salary. It was an excellent turn out with members travelling from Lithgow and the sectors — well done. Yes, we were again the dominant union in a total crowd if 250.

TAMWORTH: Friday 15th July
Members travelled from Armidale and the sectors to tell MP Kevin Anderson that together we will not be defeated. We will oppose the changes to the Industrial Relations Act (146C), attacks upon our pay and working conditions as well as the government’s removal of the independent umpire (IRC). Over 50 members and their families turned up out of a total crowd approximately 250. Dominant union again!

We can all be very proud of the fact that we dominated all the rallies. This sends a very strong message to the government.
All those branch officials involved — thank you. Without your efforts to motivate and rally the troops, the rallies would not have been such an outstanding success. Excellent job.
All those members who attended — thank you. Your efforts are much appreciated.
Please continue to spread the message. Target members who did not attend the rallies or the branch meetings. We need all members to understand how serious the government’s attack upon us is and what it means for our rights at work.
Again, thank you.
