Life membership is awarded to current or former members of the Police Association who have demonstrated extraordinary and distinguished service to the Association and its members over a considerable period of time. In exceptional circumstances other individuals who have made a significant long term contribution to the Association can also be considered for this award.

Life membership was first conferred at the October 1952 Executive meeting by the then president Charles Boston. Since that time over 90 people have received life membership. Recipients have included a judge, two doctors, four staff members and four police chaplains.

Life members are entitled to wear the badge of life members and to attend any Biennial or Special Conference of the Police Association.
