Field
services
There are four organisers and one full-time Occupational Health and
Safety Coordinator and a Commissioned Officers' Liaison
Officer. Each of the organisers is responsible for a defined geographical area.
Their role is to:
- Assist in the establishment of branches and
provide support to officials in terms of organising members;
- Attend meetings of branches;
- Make regular visits to police stations and other
places where members perform duty;
- Respond to issues regarding occupational health
and safety and police properties;
- Assist in recruiting new members;
- Liaise with local management and assist branches
resolve industrial disputes
- Liaise with other unions regarding the role of
police in industrial disputes;
- Coordinate legal and welfare assistance to
members involved in critical incidents
- Develop and coordinate state-wide campaigns;
- Industrial safety
- Equipment;
- Uniforms;
- Motor vehicles.
Information Organising
Centre (IOC)
- Provides a state-wide service to members between
8.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday on 9265 6713, 9265 6736/EN 57160,
email: info.centre@pansw.org.au
- Answers members' inquiries regarding basic
industrial, legal and member benefits issues and provides information
via email or fax;
- Identifies organising opportunities
- Refers complex inquiries and organising
opportunities to appropriate team
members or specialist staff.
Administration
- In conjunction with the Treasurer and the
management team be responsible for the financial management of the
Association and management of the Associations property portfolio.
- Applications under Association welfare schemes,
death benefit scheme and scholarships.
- Subscription income.
- Applications for the waiving of subscriptions.
- Arrangements concerning Conference and Executive
meetings; correspondence and other records.
- Circulars and other aspects of communication with
members.
- Association rules, conduct of branch business.
- Ballots.
- Police entitlements other than industrial and
legal.
- Membership records and branch lists.
Research
& Resource
- Identify major issues in policing and undertake appropriate research
for all Association divisions.
- Program and project evaluation.
- Contribute to the development of position papers relative to
policing issues.
- Provide briefing notes to staff and general membership outlining
trends and issues in policing.
- Facilitate seminars and workshops including Association Conference.
- Liaise with other Associations, research organisations, trade unions
and professional organisations.
- Provide educational packages on policing and Association issues.
- Maintain a Resource Centre of book and non-book material in the
areas of policing, industrial relations and OHS.
- Publish the New South Wales Police News, Policing Issues
and other Association publications.
- Maintain and develop Association website.
- Provide resources to members undertaking studies.
- Conduct training courses for members and staff.
- Identify training needs of the organisation.
